Mawlana Fahim Hoosen was born in 1975 and raised in Stanger, Kwa Zulu Natal (South Africa). He completed the memorization of the Quran in 1989, and thereafter graduated from Madrasa Taleemuddeen, Isipingo Beach in 2000. His teachers included Mufti Ebrahim Salejee, Mufti Zubair Bayat, Mufti Ebrahim Desai, Mawlana Haroon Abbasomar, and Mawlana Ilyas Patel.
In 2002, Mawlana Fahim began teaching at Madrasa Hamidiyya, Overport (Durban), where he taught Arabic grammar, Islamic law, principles of Islamic law, Quranic exegesis and Islamic theology.
He completed a BA with Honors in Semitic Languages and Cultures at the University of Johannesburg (2008-2010) and was certified a Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in 2010.
He has previously authored and published Anis al-Musafir - An explanation of the Islamic law of travel in accordance with the Hanafi School of Islamic law.
